“My Sweet Stories”

This is the newest series of photographs by the Polish photographer Marek Sulek. It touches upon the bodily aspect in a “retro”-style.Sulek has experimented with photography for years, creating pieces which link painting techniques to graphics and photography. These are for example: photo-painting (resulting from the destruction of negatives), the series “Mixings” (using paint), “Postcards” (in the style of old postcards, paintings from the series “Stories” (fusing acryl paintings with elements of photography).

The images from the series “Sweet Stories” refer back to the postcards and pictures in the style and convention of the beginning of the Twentieth Century. The artist makes use of classic methods of development and printing in black & white photography, as well as classic manual techniques of retouching and colouring.
