Gallery WM is delighted to invite you to the opening of “Secret Garden,” a solo exhibition by Michelle Blancke, opening on Friday, September 6^th, from 17:00 to 19:00 hrs at Gallery WM. The exhibition will run through October 5th, showcasing Blancke’s intimate, luminescent, and effervescent works that transform familiar landscapes into otherworldly impressions of nature’s mystique.

In “Secret Garden,” Michelle Blancke invites viewers into a world where the familiar transforms into the extraordinary. Blancke’s photographs reveal hidden wonders, inviting viewers to explore the wilderness within. Her fascination with scientific and philosophical ideas of consciousness, the fabric of the universe, and metaphysics is evident in her enchanting compositions.

Blancke’s works transport viewers to a domain akin to the mythological Arcadia of Peloponnesus, a virgin wilderness that was the realm of Pan and his court of dryads, nymphs, and other spirits of nature. Blancke’s photographs evoke this sense of a paradisiacal wilderness, inviting viewers to experience the serenity and magic of the natural world. However, Blancke’s images are more than mere representations of nature; they are an exploration of the unseen and the spiritual. Through her lens, moss-covered glens and fern-filled forests become portals to hidden realms.

Drawing inspiration from Henry David Thoreau’s belief that “in Wildness is the preservation of the world,” Blancke’s photographs capture the ethereal beauty and mystique of nature. Her work seems to echo the luminous landscapes of photographers like Eliot Porter and the fantastical plantscapes found in Don Lawrence’s science fiction illustrations. At the same time, her photographic eye possesses an intrinsic recognition of how most of us today perceive nature through mediated screens. This understanding seems to drive her to create such fantastical hues and colourations, offering a new perspective on the natural world; an opening to a hidden one, beyond the visible, that stems from an awareness that each person perceives reality differently.

Gallery WM nodigt u van harte uit voor de opening van “Secret Garden,” een solotentoonstelling van Michelle Blancke, op vrijdag 6 september van 17:00 tot 19:00 uur in Gallery WM. De tentoonstelling loopt tot 5 oktober en toont Blanckes intieme, haast lichtgevende en bruisende werken die landschappen omvormen tot bijna buitenaardse impressies van de mystiek van de natuur.

In “Secret Garden” nodigt Michelle Blancke kijkers uit in een wereld waar het vertrouwde verandert in het buitengewone. Blancke’s foto’s onthullen verborgen wonderen en nodigen kijkers uit om de wildernis binnenin te verkennen. Haar fascinatie voor wetenschappelijke en filosofische ideeën over bewustzijn, de structuur van het universum en metafysica komt duidelijk naar voren in haar betoverende composities.

De werken van Blancke nemen de kijker mee naar een domein dat verwant is aan het mythologische Arcadië van de Peloponnesos, een maagdelijke wildernis die het rijk was van Pan en zijn hof van dryaden, nimfen en andere natuurgeesten. De foto’s van Blancke roepen dit gevoel van een paradijselijke wildernis op en nodigen kijkers uit om de sereniteit en magie van de natuurlijke wereld te ervaren. Echter, Blancke’s beelden zijn meer dan louter representaties van de natuur; ze zijn een verkenning van het onzichtbare en het spirituele. Door haar lens worden met mos bedekte dalen en met varens gevulde bossen poorten naar verborgen rijken.

Geïnspireerd door Henry David Thoreau’s geloof dat “in Wildness is the preservation of the world,” leggen Blanckes foto’s de etherische schoonheid en mystiek van de natuur vast. Haar werk lijkt een weerspiegeling te zijn van de heldere landschappen van fotografen als Eliot Porter en de fantastische plantenlandschappen die te vinden zijn in de sciencefictionillustraties van Don Lawrence. Tegelijkertijd heeft haar fotografische oog een intrinsiek bewustzijn van hoe de meesten van ons tegenwoordig de natuur waarnemen via gemedieerde schermen. Deze sensitiviteit lijkt haar ertoe aan te zetten om zulke fantastische tinten en kleurstellingen te creëren, en biedt een nieuw perspectief op de natuurlijke wereld; een opening naar een verborgen wereld, voorbij het zichtbare, dat voortkomt uit een bewustzijn dat elke persoon de werkelijkheid anders waarneemt.
